Registered Art Therapist - Provisional
Hello! I am so happy you’re here.
Seeking help can feel scary, but I am proud of you for taking this step. It’s perfectly okay not to be okay. Together, we’ll create a safe space where you can embrace all your feelings and work through them in your own time. Therapy can be hard, and facing difficult emotions might feel overwhelming, but I’m here for you every step of the way. Your feelings and thoughts are safe with me.
I approach therapy in a non-judgemental manner and provide unconditional support and encouragement. I will show up authentically to advocate for you and your healing. I value strength-based and holistic approaches that help alleviate everyday stressors. I am passionate about working through a culturally informed framework that celebrates the intersectionality of a person. As a child of immigrant parents, I understand the effects of acculturative stress and the mental health impacts of cultural adjustment. I want to show you how making art can help you relate to and understand your emotions, even when they are hard to face. In my Latinx culture, we are taught to keep our feelings in and not talk about them. That is how I got into art, and it was through the art-making process that I could express myself in a new way. If you can relate, art therapy may be the therapy for you.
I believe that you are the expert of your own life, and a lot of my practice is rooted in giving you the power to recognize your strengths. Through art-making, I will provide a supportive environment free of judgment that will encourage you to try new things. I use art-based interventions that offer alleviation of symptoms. Art-making provides a safe and easy way to face and understand emotions, especially if exploring emotions has not always felt safe for you.
I love working with people of all ages, especially children and adolescents. Some topics of expertise include inner-child work, LGBTQ+, Anxiety, Stress, Social justice issues, Burnout, Identity work, and the Latinx community.
