Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Dance/ Movement Therapist. I established this practice to create an environment that facilitates a sense of freedom, innovation, and acceptance for your uniqueness and process of healing. The method of transformation and growth is not one-size-fits-all, and so neither should be your therapy experience. Certainly, I want to learn about you, and get to truly know you. But most of all, I wish to help you connect with yourself on a deeper level than you have ever known.
I have provided therapy, advocacy, and supportive services for children ages 3 and older, adults, and couples for over a decade and have worked with clients from many backgrounds, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and spiritual beliefs. My approach to therapy is a holistic and solution-oriented one that incorporates all parts of the self – cognitive, behavioral, emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual. However, before becoming a therapist, I developed a strong interest in using movement, the body, and many dance forms as tools to help others learn, grow and heal.
Incorporating body-based self-awareness as well as observational and creative techniques assist me in offering well-rounded support to others. I have a passion for performance-as-therapy, knowing the experience of being witnessed and/or witnessing others’ truths can be uniquely healing. I completed a dual Master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) and Counseling from Columbia College Chicago and began my clinical professional career working at non-profit agencies with trauma survivors, foster care, and military veterans before transitioning into private practice in 2014.
I have a special interest in working with trauma survivors. I have completed the 40-hour sexual assault training through the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault, among other training on trauma-informed care. I have also completed the evidence-based Nurturing Parenting Program training in order to better serve families. I am a member of the American Dance Therapy Association and have presented my work to local and national audiences. I received the 2012 Alumni of The Year Award from Columbia College Chicago’s Department of Creative Art Therapies, for my work and contributions to the DMT field.
